Great Hymer service

As title. I bought a Hymer camp recently, but it had a German manual I could not read (import). I E.Mailed Hymer Germany yesterday and asked if it was possible to get an English manual. Well you could have knocked me over with a feather when a nice young lady 'phoned me from Germany and said I she would send me a manual by post straight away. I think this is great service from them. They could have ignored me.as is not even a new van. WELL DONE HYMER GERMANY. Brownhills would probably told me to get lost, after what I have read about them on the Web.

I have found Hymer Germany similarly helpfull with circuit diagrams by email as well, and I haven,t even got one! I wouldn,t believe all the bad reports about Brownhills either. A quite small group of people can make a lot of noise. They were good when I purchased our MH from them 9 years back and the company still keep on growing. You cannot become as successfull as them without doing most things right!. The more customers you have the more grumbles you will also get. Look for yourself and make up your own mind. Listen to first hand feedback from other owners for sure but ignore the hearsay would be my advice. Enjoy the weather Regards Clive

Clive We've had some terrible experinces of a certain motorhome group, over several years. It's true some owners must be happy with the service but there are an awful lot who aren't, not just a "small group making a lot of noise". When at York show last year the dealer's marquee was turning into a place to have a moan with others who had had similar experiences, rather than be a positive 'marketing' exercise, it was just the opposite! It has to be accepted that dealers are not perfect, it just a matter of how much hassle you are willing to accept when you choose where you are going to purchase your motorhome from, not just what 'van you buy. Talking to owners of the vehicles you are looking at buying, as well as where they have purchased them is the best advice, you can't make up for gaining knowledge from the experiences of others, if for no other reason that to be prepared just in case you're unfortunate enough to have problems. Hearsay is usually the juicy bits of gossip that people have picked up and choose to repeat, first hand experience is quite another thing. Talking to owners at least gives you the opportunity to ask questions BEFORE you buy, you can then ask the dealers themselves about anything that you have concerns with (and get confirmation in writing if necessary) which will allow you to make your own mind up. As I've said before, there are some really good people at some dealerships who try hard to get things right but unfortunately no matter how much they try sometimes it doesn't always work out that way.

Talking of good and bad dealers, we bought our Hymer Camp 544 from White Arches Motorhomes in Wellingborough Northant's a few weeks back and received very good service. 5 berth year 2000 on 2.5 fiat diesel import from Germany, only bad bits to some people are 80k miles and LHD. But its absolutely imaculate. I paid £16,695, with brand new RHD headlights which I think is pretty good. Or maybe you more experienced guys may think differently. They even gave my wife a very large bunch of flowers as a thank you, which I thought was a very nice touch.

Henry: The main Hymer website (www.hymer.com) contains an on-line contact form. I would have thought it would be easier to seek the information you need from the UK importers or a UK Hymer specialist but, as this seems the obvious route, perhaps you've already tried it without success.
