Brit_Stops
Hi folks, We've been watching our endowment steadily shrivel over the years, and it's got to the stage where we've had enough of throwing money at it monthly, knowing that it won't reach its target. So throwing caution to the wind (we'll have to downsize eventually anyway...) we're cashing it in and using the money to buy something we'll really enjoy. So - we've just started the quest to find our next motorhome. We want a decent sized garage to store stuff for shows (gazebo, counter, banners, books, etc.) and we like a coachbuilt with overcab bed because we've got used to throwing all the stuff we don't use during the day (coats, bags, jumpers, etc.) up there! Our initial searches have stumbled upon the Hymer C524 as a suitable candidate. It's mainly only our daughter coming with us nowadays so the bunk beds at the back will be fine. And we like the fact that it's still compact at only 19ft long. Anyone got anything they can tell us about them? Or even better, anyone willing to let us come and have a look at theirs? We're in north Essex. Of course we're open to other suggestions... Thanks in advance for your help! Steve
Derek Uzzell
Hymer has used the C-524 model-name from (at least) 2003 to 2007 and there have been versions with different chassis. A 6-page 2003 MMM review of a C-524 can be downloaded via the following webpage: http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/Motorhomes/Reviews/Motorhomes/Motorhome-review-Hymer-C-524-on-2-8TD-Fiat-Ducato/_ch1_rw944
Brit_Stops
Hi Derek, Many thanks for that - we found the (extremely helpful) review. I think the model we favour is the C524 Classic, but haven't ruled out the slightly longer version with fixed double bed at the back. We're still very much in the starting stages of looking around though, so are still open to other suggestions. We'd like to get quality of fittings and construction over added gadgets and gizmos though. Steve
