Rees
How many MPG diesel can be expected from a Ford Transit 2.5 engine (van is Herald Aragon)? :-( I have recently bought a Skoda Fabia Diesel 1.9 car with a computer showing MPG. If I drive at a steady 60 MPH on the motorway, the car records up to 60MPG. Changing down decreases this MPG. If I drive at a steady 60MPH in our motorhome, can I expect to obtain similar economy in terms of MPG? The van, built in 1995, does not have a computer system installed. :-(
Dave Newell
Hi Rees, I would expect fuel consumption to be in the low to mid twenties depending on your driving style. It certainly won't be anything like the Skoda as you have a much heavier vehicle with a much larger frontal area and therefore greatly increased wind resistance. D. Derek Uzzell
I agree with Dave. My 1996-built Herald Templar (2.5TD) used to produce fuel consumption figures in the 20s. Because of the low overall gearing I doubt if anyone would be able to obtain 30mpg in normal driving.
Rees
:-( Thanks for both your message. You have confirmed what I thought would be the answer!!
