Switching from caravan to motorhome?

Hi all, We have just done the reverse.. ie sold the Stargazer, and gone back to an Abbey 2 berth caravan (fitted with motor mover, Awning ,alarm etc. )

We have done this for a variety of reasons, but primarily as a result of health issues which severely limit our options for continental travel because of travel insurance restrictions over prexisting medical conditions.

We have taken the decision to use our time touring those parts of UK that we haven't yet seen, and make as much use as possible of our memberships of Caravan Club and Camping/Caravan club and their networks of CL's ,CS's, Rallies,Meets, temporary holiday sites etc.

Our Bikes will probably have to go (health reasons again) so we now feel it will be better to settle on a site and use the car to get around the area...easier to park...no height barrier problems.

Yes, we will miss the Aires, France passion sites etc, but should health issues improve, there is the option abroad of Camping Cheques, ACSI sites, Municipals, Camping La Ferme etc.

Our caravanning/Motorhome experiences have been spread over a total of 45 years or so and a variety of both types of vehicles/vans. I cannot honestly say there is a strong preference for or against either type (caravan or Motorhome) . Caravan has more space for all the clutter, and tends to stay in one place longer than with a Motorhome, motorhome had its advantages for "free stopovers" and easier more comfortable driving position,.

We have decided, so now the Stargazer has moved on to a newer galaxy, , and we collect the Abbey Caravan in a couple of weeks time.
