Vixter
Hi everyone, Can someone tell me if CB radios are legal on the continent and are they on the same channels as the UK? Its occurred to me that they might be a cheaper option when we are in convoy with friends than using our mobiles - especially when we get stragglers! roger s
The original UK FM channels ( nicknamed muppets and are to be discontinued here )are not legal on the continent, however the channels that are termed mid band (on FM) in the uk are as these are CEPT channels (depends on country) There are many rigs with these frequencies available. There are one or two usefull sites on CB if you do a search which can give you uptodate info. They are certainly more convenient than mobiles. If you dont have CBs why not consider the cheaper option of licence free PMR sets which are widely available. The range is not as good as cb but they are cheaper and mainly hand held so are more versatile. If you are in a convoy these should be good for a couple of miles, have a look in Maplins or somewhere similar
Guest peter
You might be better off with walkie talkies, medium range and cheap as chips
Mel B
If you decide to go for radios, go for the same make to avoid reception/transmission problems and some makes don't talk to others.
