Towing a folding caravan using a Renault Kangoo

I have a Renault Kangoo 1.5 DCI, diesel and am looking to tow a Gobur 10/2T folding caravan. Does anybody use this car to tow a light weight caravan or folding caravan? I know the weight of the folding caravan is 730 kg (MIRO) with a MTPLM of 950kg. From the car's manual the kerb weight is 1095 kg which is 931kg at 85%.

Jon: I have a Renault Kangoo and a folding Caravan. My Renault owner's manual shows specs for about 10 different models giving their permissible braked towing weights .... ( mine is one of their 1.9 Diesel models) . I admit to being confused as some spaces are blank or give weight with ... "driver only ". ...Or a "Maximum Train weight". On the body, by my driver's door their is a sticky label giving the Maximum Train weight . But not the "maximum permissible braked trailer weight". As I was headed for France, with a French voiture and a French Folding Caravan , ....well,.....,in case of an incident, I wanted to be sure. I used to live in France and realise that it is better to avoid any "entanglement"........ So I contacted 3 Renault main dealers who gave me 3 different permissible braked trailer weights ! These all differed from one published on the web. I contacted the Caravan Club who advised of the ..."85% of weight" formula , giving the caveat of not exceeding the Manufacturer's recommended max weight. All very logical. But what was this weight ? I eventually emailed Renault in France. They came up with a figure. It is on the low side. Far lower than the caravan that The Caravan Club used when they tested a Renault Kangoo in their "Tow Car of The Year"....admittedly a different model, but very similar weight of vehicule . However, my folding caravan, even when fully laden is below this weight. I should say, though, that the clutch does take a hammering on start oplease. Something the Caravan Club noted. Let me know how you get on. or if any of the info I have can be of help. P.S. We have had 4 great trips through France to Spain, so all cant be that bad !!!!!...and folders + car go through French tolls for the price of a car only
