We visit June, sometimes August & September and November. Most French go camping at the same time during which its hectic at populay spots. Outside of this period quite a few of the periferal attractions are not always available. But camping places abound and its always a beautiful country to tour.

Just arrived back from France on Sunday after spending two weeks in Loire valley. Found that sites visited had ample spaces, usually got busy at weekends with French and German campers. Always told no need to book ahead outside of main season. Marvellous empty roads outside of main towns and cities.

Just returned from three weeks in France. Most sites open by mid May, but quite a few open from mid April.Never found a problem finding a site. A quiet time to visit but still plenty of motorhomes about ,mainly Dutch. It's a very nice time of year to visit before the hordes decend July and August.

Hello, we live in the Limousin and find that camping outside holiday periods in France is a joy! The municipals (those that are open) are clean and well maintained and aires are the same. We have just joined the ACSI scheme for off-season camping and also belong to France Passion. France is THE place for motor-caravanners and off-season is the best time for us grey nomads!
