ronnie9
hi, my 1985 holdsworth renault traffic's fridge (electrolux 2-way) was not working on 12v , after pulling fridge out noticed one of the wires was hanging off.. re conected and it doesnt turn off! there is an on off switch on dash board which doesn't do anything. im guessing the relay under the bonnet is either stuck or broken? anyone have or can do a diagram to check relay is wired correctly? does it really need a relay?? thanks. ronnie
Derek Uzzell
Now's an ideal time for you to invest in John Wickersham's "The Mptorcaravan Manual" (Haynes Publishing) that contains chapters on motorhome fridges and the 12V system (including sample diagrams showing standard relay wiring). If your fridge is continually drawing 12V power from your Holdsworth's vehicle-battery even when the vehicle's motor is stopped, then your deduction that the fridge isolation-relay has failed seems fair. Impossible to be sure though without checking the wiring, particularly as a 1985 motorhome is likely to have several owners any of which may have DIY fiddled with the electrical system. I don't understand about the On/Off switch - unless you mean this is on the fridge's 'dash board'.
