limerick
Having to replace my Motorhome alarm after only 5 years(Laserline 290 series)which I thought should have lasted longer. The alarm which I have been recommended is a Meta alarm fitted for €300.Has anyone any experience of these alarm or should I be looking at some other brand regards limerick
Cliffy
I would definitely have a look at VanBitz ours performs without fuss or problems. It was fitted when we bought the van so I can't say how much it would be now. They are in Somerset but have agents further north and east. They are a very helpfull profesional company to work with and if you go down to Somerset they have a campsite attached to their workshops you can use whilst the work is being carried out. Cliffy
Just read your post again I didn't notise you are in Ireland. I would still ring VanBitz as they will offer advise if they have not got a local agent to you.
Needlesnotpins
Your alarm should definitely have lasted longer than 5 years and the Laserline alarms are all Thatcham approved so there may be a simple explanation (and fix) for the problem you have. What precisely is it not doing - apart from 'not working'?
fjmike
I may be mistaken but I thought that the Strikeback was based on a Meta alarm system
Derek Uzzell
fjmike - 2012-04-03 7:56 PM I may be mistaken but I thought that the Strikeback was based on a Meta alarm system That seems to be the case... http://www.outdoorbits.com/vanbitz-strikeback-motorhome-alarm-p-31.html I would have thought that a Meta Systems alarm should be as good as one from any other manufacturer. I note that Laserline has a useful website http://www.laserlinedirect.com/public/control.php?_path=/601/602 and it would be sensible to contact Laserline for advice (and potential repair costs) before deciding to replace the present system. HymerVan
My first Van had a Meta system which worked faultlessly. Our last van had a sigma system (installed by Brownhills) which worked adequately but with a poor level of sound from tjhe sounder and inadequate LED indication. We are getting Van Bitz to fit one in our new Van.
Mickt
I have a Laze LIne alarm and understand that it is guaranteed for life
Derek Uzzell
Mickt - 2012-04-04 1:06 PM I have a Laze LIne alarm and understand that it is guaranteed for life The GB 'lifetime warranty' terms and conditions relating to a Laserline 290 alarm are stated here: http://www.laserlinedirect.com/public/documents/290I2_291_USER_GUIDE.pdf They are quite restrictive, requiring an annual product service check. In limerick's case, it may also be significant that "Failure of product occurring outside Great Britain" is excluded. (There may, of course, be different terms & conditions for a Laserline alarm marketed outside GB.)

I did not know that. May be Vanbitz could give the advice required to repair the system already fitted and they may supply replacement parts. . limerick
Thank's for all the reply's.The company that fitted the alarm told me that Laserline were gone out of business but they could send it to someone to check it at a cost of €80 but could'nt guarantee something else would'nt go wrong later and recomended to buy a Meta alarm.I think I will go for the Meta alarm as reply's are positive on the product rather than be worried the old one would let me down when I need it. Thank's again for your help regards limerick
