josie gibblebucket
Oh Dave, how could you, after all his years of loyal service........ (lol)
Guest pelmetman
As if 8-)................... Mind you 10k.... :-D......and I reckon Horace is in even better nick ;-) The only thing that puzzles me?.......the advert states its a 91 Transit but the step design is from the first Mk 5 Travelhome which had the oven by the door layout, which makes it more claustrophobic to my mind........could be wrong though, could be a customers mod :-S Second thoughts........just had another look and the fridge is in the same place as ours so it must be the same layout as Horace ;-)
josie gibblebucket
You could always buy it for spares and keep Horace going for another 30 years ;-) :-) :-D :D
Guest pelmetman
Makes me wonder though Josie just how many of today's campers will be around in 20 years time? 8-)......... As the tin worm has been replaced by electrics as the killer of older vehicles now days *-).......or should I say newer than Horace :D At least the tin worm could be repaired fairly easy with a hammer and a welder ;-).............Where as there doesn't seem to be a easy way to source older electrics :-S
josie gibblebucket
I agree with you about the longevity of our vans (my own one is 17 years old and I would like to think it has at least 10 years left in it) but some of the newer ones, particularly the coachbuilt variety, won't last that long. You only have to look at the pics of some second hand ones advertised to see that they are nearly worn out at 5 or 6 years. I'd actually like to have that other travelhome, but I think its a bit overpriced. Still if it is watertight and runs well it could be worth that. :-) With regard to sourcing parts, I (touch wood) haven't had a problem so far, but I'm surprised you are struggling to get anything for a Transit? I thought bits for them would be plentiful :-S

I thought bits for them would be plentiful :-S Sorry Josie..... my triping must of confused you :$ We're not having any problems with Transit spares for Horace ;-)...........as you say they are plentiful and cheap :-D.............. 10k does seem a bit high...........but if its in good nick then its worth the money plus its automatic.... just up the road from us there is a camper dealer who specializes in the older camper and he's got some right old dogs for 9k 8-) I was talking to the chap who has looked after my vehicles for years, he's a bit of a Transit specialist and reckons the biggest problem he has with the new Tranny is the electrics...........I sometimes think todays vehicles are just too complicated........ *-)
