Grumpy Grandad
Hi Everybody. :-D We have a 2007 Hymer B544 and the Overcab bed has become very heavy to lift back in to place. I believe it is possible to replace the Gas Struts, but is it a DIY job, and if so, where is the best place to buy them from?
Mel B
Hi GG - welcome to the mad house! :-D I believe it's possible to actually get the old struts 're-gassed' ... I'm sure this has been mentioned on the forum before. Ah, here we go: http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=23776&posts=5 http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20207&posts=
Grumpy Grandad
Thanks Mel. I need to take the rams off to find the size and whether it is possible to buy uprated ones. Trouble is,at the moment I am the only one who can lift the bed.My other half would like to take the van away herself but can't manage the bed.We are going away for the next ten days though,so it will have to wait. :-D
barrie w
Hi, before you go to the extent of trying to change the struts have a look at the pivot points. When I had mine it was as you say yours is. I had a job to move it. After a lub on the nylon bushes all has been ok since. B
