Tyres

Nuevo17

Recommended Posts

I need to get 2 new tyres for my Nuevo. I have tried to get Michelin Aglis but no one has them in stock. I emailed Michelin and got a reply today saying demand has outstripped supply and the estimated next delivery date is the end of June. My question is: do I need to get specific camping tyres or can I get van tyres of a similar size 215/70R15 load rating 109.?. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not that uncommon for sudden temporary shortages of a particular type and size of tyre to occur, especially when the tyre is specialised like a 'camping-car' pattern. I note that some on-line tyre-suppliers claim to have Michelin Agilis Camping currently available in 215/70 R15C size, but such claims often prove to be misleading when an attempt is made to order.

Alternative camping-car tyres would be Pirelli's "Chrono Camper" or Continental's "VancoCamper".

Variations of this question regularly come up on motorhome forums and it might be worth looking at this earlier thread:

I am surprised your post hasn't resurrected the debate on camping tyres vs ordinary van tyres. It usually follows and nobody can agree.

I had the same delay when I bought my Agilas Camping tyres last year. ATS ordered them for me and rang me when they came in.

Perhaps the pros and cons were adequately summarised via the link I provided...
