Size of French gas bottles

Hi I am about to go to France and would not take English gas if I could be sure that French ones fit. Can anyone tell me the diameter and height of the normally available bottles, please? Are they about 10-12kg of gas? MalcolmE

A traditional French steel bottle is approx. 58cm tall by 31cm diameter. Motorcararavan magazines normally refer to them as 13kg capacity (though this may be because French campers appear to use propane exclusively). You can also obtain 'stackable' bottles (5kg propane) that measure roughly the same as a steel biggie when placed one above the other. Twiny, Malice, Elfi, etc. are popular trade-names. There are now some slightly smaller capacity steel bottles being marketed (about 10kg I think), but I don't know the exact dimensions. Also "Le Cube" - a plastic container (5kg propane) measuring 355mm high by 282mm wide. Note that connections vary according to the product.
