Grey Funnel
My stolen and now recovered motorhome has been re-plated by the DVLA and the insurance companies that I have used in the past have refused to cover because of it now having a Q registration number plate. Is there a motorhome insurance company that will cover it at a normal price?
George Collings
If the vehicle is substantially unchanged, the paperwork from DVLA covering the allocation of a Q plate should cover why the original registration was not available and might be acceptable to previous insurers. Grey Funnel
The plate on it when I purchased the motorhome was from a same year scrapped vehicle as the motorhome had been previous stolen, It was stolen from me and recovered by my local DC. All engine and chassis numbers had been removed. hence the re-registering with a Q plate, when recovered it had another different number.

Grey Funnel
Adrian Flux was recommended by Caravan Club and Caravan Guard, I knew that they did kit cars and they have insured me but at about twice the price

There must be some sort of paper trail of the evidence that the vehicle is yours otherwise it would not have been returned to you. Despite the main id numbers being lost it is sometimes possible to pin down a vehicles identity from its detailed specification and the help of a friendly main agents parts department.. For quality control purposes many minor components now bear identifing marks showing precise date and sometimes time of manufacture. Normally its done by a specialist stolen vehicle investigator but its suprising how much you can work out for yourself. PM me if you want more help or see me at the Peterborough Show.
