Hello. Has anyone got suggestions for a campsite for a couple of nights in Venice. Done some research and Fusina looks ok but wondered how close the industrial area is for noise and smells. The Jeselo side looks busy and a longer drive to the port. Thanks

camping C'SAVIO IS VERY HANDY AND ONE CAN GET A WATERBUS TO DO THE ISLANDS AND VENICE USING A ROVER TICKET , ( LOADS CHEAPER )THAN GOING ON A COMMERCIAL TRIP BICYCLES CAN BE TAKEN ON FERRY TOO , IF YOU WANT TO GO AROUND LIDO DE JESOLA , YOU CAN ALSO GO AROUND VENICE ON THE WATERBUS EQUIVALENT TO THE CIRCLE LINE ,

A couple of years ago we spent three nights in Camping Fusina and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It is just a few minutes' walk from a launch ferry service in to Venice and from the site you are looking at St.Mark's square across the lagoon. It is close so you could go into Venice in the morning, go back to the site for a siesta and nip back in the evening for a meal and a wander. We enjoyed the capability to do that.

Facilities are very good and kept clean and the restaurant/ take-away was very reasonable. The atmosphere on site was very good with visitors from all over Europe. The site is used by coaches of young visitors but the site management ensure all is quiet in siesta time and in the evenings. We had absolutely no noise at night.

You are near the industrial area- though it is not visible from the site. Large ships go past the site to and from this area which we found very interesting. Lots of vans park facing out to Venice and enjoy the good views. We were not troubled by noise or smells.

We have used Serenissima in the past but Fusina is more convenient. The sites on the other side of the lagoon are good but again not so convenient for the city, and the drive round to Jesolo etc is rather tiresome and foul at weekends. Saying that we have used Ca' Savio- we were not so keen on the facilities there , Dei Fiore- which was good and with a good restaurant, Union Lido which was superb but expensive and our favourite on that side Marina de Venezia- great facilities, spotless and really well organised and with a decent beach. It is close to the ferry from that side.

Forgot to say we visited the above sites always in August!

Wherever you go, enjoy!!

Susan
