Just got back from 3 weeks in Eire. Lovely people and very friendly. No problem with "wild camping" as there are plenty of places to stay the night. Did have a problem finding a place to put rubbish as there as no bins like other parts of Europe. Solved this problem by staying every 4th night on a site so we could charge up with water etc.

The only negative thing was parking in Towns and majority of lay-byes as they use height barriers to stop high vehicles using them. Frustrating when you want to stop for a quick lunch or just a break and enjoy the scenery. Still the "black and cream" liquid made-up for this.

Well worth a trip over there and maybe do it again next year. Ferry charges from France to Cork were reasonable at just over €400 return and a cabin both ways. Thanks to Brittany Ferries and the crew of the Pont Aven for a very pleasant sailing.

Sad part of the holiday was meeting a "white van driver" on a mountain road. I took evasive action and ran onto the grass verge, dropped the Hymer front wheel into a hole and the rocks did for the door, inner wing and gas locker. Insurance are OK about it and nobody was hurt. *-) Griff

We spent a couple of weeks there in 2010 lovely time didn't even rain apart from a 10 min shower when we got off the ferry.

Only spent one night on a site, most garages would allowed us to fill up with water, had the rubbish problem found out Lidl always have a bit bin out back. Don't remember seeing any height barriers. Surprised at how friendly the locals are every one waves and say hello when you go through a village. It's on the list of "must go again".
