nightrider Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Some people are natural born charactors or you could refer to them as village idiots and we have a few round here, life would be awfully dull without them. I was in tears laughing yesterday morning at the antics of one particular guy , sooo funny, he brightened a dull monday morning.
Guest Tracker Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 There are a few like that on here too Malc - did you have anyone in mind for the much sought after and illustrious title of - Village Idiot of the Forum

nightrider Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Peter James - 2012-04-24 4:39 PM knight of the road - 2012-04-24 8:33 AM Some people are natural born charactors or you could refer to them as village idiots. Not you Malcolm because Bury is not a village ;-) When I first moved into the Bury area some 30 years ago it was full of paper and textile mills, light and heavy engineering works, it was a boom town with lots of work opportunities and now there is nothing apart from one major employer called James Halstead who produce floor coverings and supply the world and its the only company that I have shares in, so if you are into stocks and shares check them out? Pubs, there were hundreds of them and now they are closing like ninepins. Bury town centre has had the benefit of millions of pounds invested in it with major stores relocating here, Rochdale and Oldham are not very happy because their town centres are like ghost towns and their citizens are all heading to Bury to spend their dosh. All in all Bury is a nice little town, not much trouble apart from occasional turf wars between Bury and Rochdale Asians and Bury and Rochdale travellers engaging in turf wars.
nightrider Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 The charactor that I refer to in my OP has to my knowledge been in the garden maintenance business for the last 25 years, unlike most gardeners who use a van to transport their gear around this guy gets around on a drop handlebar bike. Electric flymo over his shoulder and his hand tools strapped to his bike, too much hard graft for me, he must be doing ok seeing as he owns the house he lives in and has another one that he rents out and I know for a fact that he charges a modest £10 and hour. Another local gardeners mode of transport is a wheelie bin supplied courtesy of Bury council, his garden round is on a very affluent area of Bury, but at least these two guys are getting out of bed in the mornings to earn their corn and neither one of them are claiming benefits, so all power to their elbows say I.
Mel B Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 knight of the road - 2012-04-28 4:35 AM Another local gardeners mode of transport is a wheelie bin How does he get round in that then? ... no pedals or engine to move it so does he tie his 'husky' lawn mower to the front and get pulled around???? :D
