Exhausted

The exhaust on our Rapido is literally hanging by a thread! The pipe and the silencers are very much intact but the hangers welded to it have rusted away, and I have held it in place with wire for sometime.

I approached several exhaust outlets locally to be told we had an odd exhaust fitted to the van and they could not help. It turns out after a search on the web that we have a lhd exhaust fitted on a rhd vehicle, presumably so that the outlet does not coincide with the electric step.

After a bit of searching I located a Company in Germany who could supply on EBay. 4 days after ordering I have my galvanised steel exhaust, free delivery from Germany, 2 year warranty, and the cost £63!

Can't believe it!

That was a good find.

I was in the same position a while back. I had the LHD exhaust on my Alko chassis van. What I did instead was to get a standard RHD exhaust and have the mounting brackets moved to suit this exhaust. It cost £65 for the labour of moving the hangers and fitting the new exhaust. I now have the advantage of picking up an exhaust anywhere in the UK.

BTW, the LHD version of the exhaust is very hard to come by in the UK and is roughly the same price as having a Stainless Steel exhaust made up. 8-)
