PJay
Can any one recommend a site near to Rouen? Going on tunnel on Saturday, and plan to drive to-wards Rouen for first night, as we have to drive 150 miles to tunnel, feel this a good place to stop. prefer Site rather than an Aire PJay
PJay
PS maybe a site within 2 hours drive of Calais? Plan second night Le-Mans PJay
Guest JudgeMental
Le Crotoy aire not a bad stop, short walk into centre via port, lots of restaurants. 1.5 hrs south of Calais Rouen a bit bleak.......
Dave225
There is a lovely site at Neufchatel en Bray just north of Rouen. It is just of the motorway and takes ACSI at €12 per night. Good grassy pitches and a Le Clerc supermarket 300m along the road.
Keith T
There is (was) a municipal type site in Rouen. Area of Deville, and it's called Rue Jules Ferry. Easy access by public transport if you require it. Last time we visited (2008) was undergoing much needed improvments and updating. Driving through the city though can be a bit of a nightmare! If you want to avoid driving around/through the city, there is one we use on from time to time at Neufchatel-en-Bray, just off the autoroute and very convenient as a first/last stop for Calais crossings. It's called Camping Ste Claire. Great litttle site, very tidy, used by lots as an overnight stop, as well as some (mostly Caravanners) as a base for visiting the area. Ther's also some useful shops along the road to the site including a Lidl and Leclerc, teh former good price wines, the latter usually good price for fuel as well as wine!!. PJay
Thank you Dave & Keith Looks like the one we will aim for. Have ACSI , unless we decide to carry on to Le Mans, as we know a very good site there that takes ACSI Pauline
Brians dad
Our usual stop round there is at Pont de l'arche, on the N15, 15 km south of Rouen. It is a municipal in the village on the banks of the Seine, short walk to village and shops. Only disadvantage, no gourmet restaurants nearby, just basic brasseries and a chinese. Fairly easy to get to if you remember to turn left at the first traffic lights in Rouen, and do not cross the river.
bolero boy
Another vote for neufchatel-en-bray. Planned on one night, stayed for a week! Great cycling on disused railway line. Francis is a great host.
laimeduck
If you are early at Neufchatel-en-Bray and want to go a little further - about 15 miles SE of Rouen - Les Andelys, Iles des Trois Rois, an ACSI site 16Euro situated on the banks of the Seine, below Chateau Gaillard, Richard the Lionheart's Castle. Lovely spot & not far off your route. http://www.camping-troisrois.com/

robertandjean
If you want to go in to Rouen, which is worth a visit, then suggest stay on aires at either Cleres or Montville and take the train in.

LordThornber
Hi Eddie, Sooty has already answered but yes that is it, runs right along the River. 2 min (max) walk into the Town. Martyn
JamesFrance
Another vote for Pont de l'Arche. Last time we were there we watched the peniches passing our pitch along the Seine and otters swimming in the river. I agree about the friendly warden but don't think he speaks much English. There is a Super U for cheap diesel just over the bridge. This site is on the road to Dreux/Evreux rather than the route to Le Mans. Incidentally there is a Porsche entered in the 24 hour race this year decorated in the Adria colour scheme.
Wirralian
Like pelmetman, we also head for the aire at Forges Les Euax when on the way back from Spain in April. Usually 6 euros something but this year no one collected the money for the 2 nights we were there. (Did stop there on the way down in January a few years back but no water and electric. Would be interested to hear if there are full facilities there now in the winter) John
