Peugeot Boxer Clutch cable needed urgently

Our 1996 Kontiki on a Peugeot Boxer is in the garage and needs a new clutch cable (part no 2150T8) and Peugeot have said they are no longer available and none of the local stockists seem to have one either.

We are supposed to be off next week for a long trip. Dont know what to do. The garage are trying to match it but I have been left trying to source it myself.

If I cant get one im stuffed!

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Barry

Sorry - the guy I thought might help seems to have ceased trading.

He was Delfin Designs

Have you tried Speedy Spares in Brighton - they used to specialise in obsolete parts?

You might try a search of breakers yards online or local to you?

Thanks for the quick response chaps. The garage have a Citreon Relay on coming down in the next half hour which "might" fit. I think its going to be a case of ringing round suppliers if its no good.

Speedy didnt have one unfortuantely. Im a bit reluctant to buy off ebay unless its a last resort. It could take a week to get here.

Citroen / Peugeot used the same engine and gearbox, it is Fiat who used different units, so the Citroen Relay cable should fit as long as they have it for the right engine!

I too have had next day service from Ebay sellers - they are not all rogues - although without doubt some are!!

Thanks everyone

I think we have sourced two locally. They did get a Citreon Relay one but it didnt fit! We have now between us sourced two other after market cables locally that should do the job fingers crossed and they will have the first one tomorrow.

Im not averse to using Ebay but time is against us. We were originally supposed to be going away this weekend but already its slipped back to next week and there is a list as long as your arm of stuff to do so I need the van back ASAP really.

You would think it was 50 years old. This is not the first time recently we have struggle for bits.

If you knew what I had forked out for vehicle repairs in the last six months you wouldnt have to ask that question! I dont even want to start adding it up as I will probably have a break down myself.

Too late now anyway they have ordered it and shipped it. I will get them to chuck the old one which will turn out to be perfectly fine anyway in the garage.

The problem was a squeeky and grinding foot pedal which they "think" is the cable. We will see.

there was a thread recently about faults with pedals *-)

That was Noddy in his pedal car having trouble with always putting his foot in it!

I know how he must have felt!!

Got the van back this afternoon. They finally got the cable through Simon Bailes of Teesside.

I drove it the 17 miles home and it feels like a new clutch. No noise and much much lighter than it was. On closer inspection of the old one they reckon its a bit dry, rusty and starting to fray.

Thanks again for all the brilliant help as ever!

Looks like the bike is sorted now as well.

So. If Ive got this right, I think we might be good to go!

Its a good job I went on that shake down trip up the road last week (which really was just an excuse to go to a CL near a pub on me own) otherwise i would have been discovering this problem on the way to Dover and worrying about it for weeks on end!

Cheers

Barry
