Den
I'm sure I read that there is a campsite across the water from Venice. We leave for France on the 6th July for our longest holiday( 3 weeks )and would like to visit Venice and of course sample the food of Italy. Thanks in anticipation for a site name ect Dennis

Delfin Driver
Camping Fusina sits across from St. Mark's Square and is a short ferry ride away. It has good facilities and we enjoyed it. It is also very easy to reach from the A4 Autostrada. Marina di Venezia is a super site with all mod cons. It is a longish walk to the ferry but there is a shuttle bus. Fusina is easier to get to as it does not entail the long and rather tedious drive round to Punta Sabbioni. And I am not sure where you heard Marina Di Venezia is cheap- it is expensive! It does have a good beach which Fusina does not. We have enjoyed both for different reasons. We have also stayed on Union Lido- very expensive, Dei Fiore and Ca' Savio. ( What you have to do when your kids were Eurocamp/ Eurosites reps for the summer!) Wherever you go- enjoy! Susan
OurTour.co.uk
Hi Den We were in Venice about a month ago and stopped on a great little site just 250m from Punta Sabbioni - from there you can get a ferry over to Venice as part of a 12 hour ticket for 18euro. This means you can hop around the islands on all the vaporetti. Details of the site and gps co-ordinate can be found here- http://ourtour.co.uk/home/venice-is-in-sight/ Or if you google ourtour Venice it should come up close to the top. The site facilities are clean and new but basic, no pool etc. But for us convenience and price were the main factors. It was 22euro a night for our motorhome with hook up and two people. We loved it in Venice, hope you do too. Julie OurTour.co.uk - touring Europe by motorhome

Tony Jones
We used Camping Fusina in 2003 - excellent then, but of course that's not "current info." The ferry was very convenient, but take a sunhat in case you miss one and have to wait a little while!
Wills Wagon
Lots of sites on the Adriatic Sea from Lido di Jesolo through Cavalino to Punta Sabbioni. The ferry to Venice runs from Punta Sabbioni and there is a frequent bus service that runs from Lido di Jesolo to Punta Sabbioni. We have stayed at Union Lido which is a huge site with a beach, seven restaurants and lots of activities and its own bus to the ferry but many of the sites along the coast have a beach on the sea. Quite a few sites have heavy tree cover to provide shade in the summer and we find them depressing, Union Lido has part out in the open which makes satellite TV easy but Camping Italy in the same ownership is very shady. Camping Village Al Boschetto and Camping Del Fiori have lots of open space. In Punta Sabbioni Camping Ca'Savio and Camping Miramare are also quite open. If you are in Cavallino dont forget to visit the huge camping shop, sells everything under the sun for motorhomes and camping, we found it amazing. The Caravan Club Europe book is very useful. Andrew MMM
I visited Ca' Savio at the begining of the month and it was lovely. And, if you're visiting in a Ducato based motorhome Fiat will give it a free check-up!
Dodgey
Just got back from Venice last week, we used the ACSI card and book. Stayed at Waikiki camp site Lido di Jesolo only 16 Euros inc elec/ day. Very friendly all spoke english, very clean and tidy, camp next to beach. Some shade from trees if wanted. Recommend that when going to camp site ask to see what they have available, then walk round and get the feel of the place. Campsite was secure at night, no vehicle movemenet between 1-3pm. The site is further out but that means less crowding. Purchased day ticket (from office) to Venice. They gave perfect instructions on how to get on bus and to where ferry is. So had great time. If you go back go via the Italina Dolomites, fantastic views and need to be explored further! Have a good vacation. Andy
