robertandjean
Arrived here yesterday pm to find a taste of summer at last! Left London in weather more typical of November and given some reports on here expected similar; but not so. Yes a short shower last night but today very warm with some sun and people in summer gear. Using free wi-fi in tourist office. This is new and very helpful staff will book you in, but you do need your passport. Aire not as busy as in past, due we think to the 6€/night charge. To be honest wish more aires would charge as makes easier to find a space and stops overstayers. That said we did notice some vans, mainly Brits, were not paying. Now machine is not easy to operate as need to insert credit card, then wait, then push card right in before entering pin number. But not paying risks a large fine! Road system past aire now one way, but again some Brit vans, and others, not following this. Still think Gravelines is best aire for stopping on /off ferry; certainly much better than a shopping centre car park.
Mike B.
We were there just over 2 weeks ago and the machine was taking the payment but not issuing tickets. It would be hard to confirm this to the visiting gendarmes unless you speak fluent French but maybe it is fixed by now. The aire at Grayelles (Rennes) is free now 2 euros for services and max 48hrs and is a nice setting if you fancy a bit of city culture Mike
robertandjean
Machine is now issuing tickets. Thanks for tip re aire at Rennes, like visiting cities so see if we can fit it in, if not this time then in future.
