Spanish Gas Bottle

Yes they are indeed still used here. By the million.

 

They are 12.5kgs butane gas bottles - every CEPSA Petrol station and millions of other shops across Spain swop them, so long as you have an empty to exchange.

 

Going rate for an empty one here at any rastro (car boot sale) here is 8 to 10 euros.

 

They are MUCH lighter than the other type of gas bottles here: the Repsol orange steel bottles ( which also contain 12.5 kgs of butane when full.

 

Both types use exactly the same Spanish bottle-top 30mbar clip-on regulator.
