Where to stay in Bulgaria

I've been in Bulgaria a while now and soon found that info re. campsite locations is not that easy to come by. The first two (listed on the internet), failed and have ceased to exist for some time.....despite them stlll being listed.

After wild camping overnight 'in the middle of nowhere', I went for this;

http://www.sakar-hills.com/

Not only are the GPS co-ords bang on, the site exists! And what a site! I've been here on this site since Sunday 12th August. It's quiet and peaceful in beautiful countryside close to the borders of \Turkey and Greece. Full electrics, water, superb shower facilities and full 100% wi-fi.

Set in a tiny village community (Biser) with just one shop which sells everything, and one Bar/Restaurant. Handy if you learn a little basic Bulgarian as the locals will appreciate you at least trying.....and it's fun! The site owner is English and has helped me learn a few basics. His family are also from UK now living here in Bulgaria.

Personally I will be sorry to leave as i've met the owners family, friends and got to know 'the locals'....even the four Police Officers who frequent the village each evening.

Tasty meals at the Restaurant cost around 12 BG Lev (£4.40)........and that's including a beer and espresso. I can't even buy Fish 'n Chips for that where I live!

Oh.....and if you like good espresso's.....you will pay little more than 1 BG Lev (40p) for a quality espresso. I pay more than four times that amount back in UK.

Anyone wanting to try Bulgaria.........you have to be crazy to miss this site out.

GPS is useful.....but don't rely on it when you come to a crossroad like this;

Hi Paul.....good to see you are on the road again, have you looked at "magbaztravels .com" ?

Keep saying about going East but sun always pulls me this way.

On my way to Sagres at the mo, good luck & stay safe.

Hi Phil......been 'on the road' since 1st July.

Yes MagBaz travels is the site I found Sakar Hills Camping on but also the other two non-existent sites in Bulgaria. I've emailed them and suggested they remove them from their listing, but Sakar Hills is a dream of a site. Site owner Matt is English with Bulgarian girlfriend and yesterday I was guest at his parents property nearby for dinner, then today i've been to a local outdoor pool with Matt and Petya.

Then it's 'pulling you' the wrong way!!

Apart from a few days in the north east of Poland the weather has been baking with daily temps in the mid to high 30's and often reaching 40c. Here at Sakar Hills site there has been a pleasant gentle breeze each day just enough to keep you from sweating, though sitting out in the sun too long is not a good idea!

East for me every time. The only 'brits' in Bulgaria are the few living here.....and BG living costs are mega mega cheap.
