boxer1 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Water is getting into the cavity of the window. I took it off and found that the seal between the two sheets had parted at the braket for the stopper arm. As I had not used my van over the summer I had left the window at half latch and I believe the window has warped and when I closed it I have broke the seal. What are the windows made of (perspex etc) What glue can I use that will not damage the window Boxer1
Derek Uzzell Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 The double-glazed windows used for caravans and motorhomes are made of acrylic material: http://www.polyplastic.nl/uk/acrylaat.html Successfully bonding acrylic materials together involves a specialised adhesive and a good deal of care: http://www.ehow.com/way_5333254_glue-acrylic-sheets.html I suggest you seek expert advice from a company that produces replacement double-glazed widows for leisure-vehicles. Exhaust Ejector Co. Ltd (EECO) has being doing this for years and now offers a 'rebonding' service for delaminated caravan windows. http://www.eeco-ltd.co.uk/
Guest pelmetman Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Alternatively if the unit is just filling with water and is otherwise fine ;-)................Just drill a small hole in the bottom corners to allow the water to drain out :D....................Worked on my loo window 5 years ago and its still OK now B-)
boxer1 Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Derek after reading your information I think I will leave it to the experts. I had the window replaced 2008 by a company called EEco Ltd, Halifax. I contacted them and they advised me that they could repair it in two or three hours. I am hopefuly going that direction next year so I will call. Stalwart I asked them about drilling a hole and they thought that would be ok and they could repair it. Thanks for all your help Boxer1
