Yes!

Turn all the way to the left (anticlockwise when looking up) then a bit further! First one will seem 'tight' but you'll get the feel of it after.

I changed all ours to LED last year.

Ok so I managed to get one apart.

Deciding now whether to fit G4 tube or G4 disk replacements in warm white.

Tube type in the wardrobe and power cupboard and as there are reflectors in the other two types of downlighters, I think tube type as well.

What did you fit Keith (or anybody)(?)

There are other sorts of G4 Led 'bulb' - examples are shown here:

It's often the case that the design of the original light-fitting means that only one sort/size of Led replacement bulb is practicable. If you have a choice and wish to exploit the light-fitting's reflector, then you'll need to use the 'tube' type.

Whatever Led replacement bulb you choose, make sure that it has a light output at least equivalent to that of the G4 halogen bulb it will replace. If there's any doubt, opt for an Led bulb with a higher light output. Warm white is the right colour choice.

Hi Lance,

I fitted the 10 LED Side pin in Warm white from Aten lighting Link.

Probably not the cheapest but good quality and excellent service. I bought my first at the NEC show and got a good discount then phoned for more a couple of weeks later and asked if they could repeat the discount, the answer was Yes!

I have also replaced all the fluorescents over the the lockers and those over the hob and shower with strip LED's from them Link, these give a far better light than the original fluorescents and consume slightly less power.

I don't think you'll get the 'tube' style LED's in your downlighters, but then again I haven't tried.

Lance,

I fitted the same 10 LED Side pin LED's in all our reading spotlights (as your photo) and the downlighters over the door and wash basin. This was a total of 10 lights.

I then fitted nearly 5 meters of strip LED to replace the tubes in the 2 fluorescents over the hob and shower (25cm each) and finally to completely replace all the strip lights on top of the lockers.

It was an expensive exercise but we feel well worth it as we never used the fluorescents as we hated the stark light they gave off.

Keith.

PS I'm the other side of B'ham to you but you're welcome to come over and see the results. PM me if you do.

Glad I came over and viewed your conversion, Kieth - Cheers.

I went the same route but got some 12smd side pin from the Far East. Much cheaper if you can wait and aint these things made over there anyway.

Very pleased with the results.

Now I have obtained a 5m strip on a roll again from abroad for less than a fiver all in, to replace the fluorescent lamps.

All the best

Lance

I went the same route a couple of years ago, but found all of the "cheap" ones started to fail one by one, it started with individual leds flashing, which drove us mad, but apparently because they were not voltage safe, eventually replaced the all from a company called Bedazzled, they have been faultless, some good information on their site as well here. Yes they appear pricey, but you know the old saying.
