Clive Posted November 16, 2012 Share Posted November 16, 2012 You need both. The Alternator will charge the battery while you are driving. There is the traditional "Split Charging" which works well if the cables are thick and short. There is also the B2B units that generate additional volts above the alternator output voltage to charge your leisure battery quicker. But You also need the mains powered hookup charger to charge your battery when you are on site or even at home. Don't forget the solar panel either! C.
