I know its a long way off yet ,but next May / June we hope to visit the Dordogne again as we really enjoyed our stay there this year.

This time we plan to head from Bergerac to Bordeaux and then head north to Soulac-sur-mer and then cross by ferry to Royan.

My question is has anyone used this ferry crossing and if so can give me a rough idea of the cost for a motorhome. Many thanks.

Hi, we used the ferry last summer on 18th August, we spent the night on the aire at Le Verdon and drove to the ferry, paid 46.40 euros and were on in no time.  Later in the day it's not so quick, I believe as queues build up later in the day.  The aire was 8 euros, I think.

Afternoon all,

I worked out that it costs about the same to drive round, but its good fun a sea crossing. Gets busy in high season and low season you may have to wait for a ferry a while. We have done this crossing many times.
