Dave Newell
idtd is the predecessor of the JTD and the main difference is the idtd is a conventional diesel with turbo and intercooler while the JTD has electronic diesel injection management utilising common rail technology. The idtd is a good solid reliable unit and it's only real weak point is shared by many modern engines, the timing belt. It's worth getting it changed (unless of course you have proof that it was done recently) as it will cost about £100-£150 but a wrecked engine could cost ten times that amount. JTD is slightly more powerful and a bit more refined but idtd is still a good workhorse. D.
