Auto Sleeper door catch(old B. Leyland)

George..

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 A.Sleeper Gatcombe and the outside door catch has started to crack. I have a replacement and wonder if any body has had to change one.I have been informed by several people it is an old British Leyland, probably a Maxi car door catch.

Thanks,

George

Thanks Paul, visited the Owners site, it's quite good, will be looking at it again as I have registered. As I said before I have a replacement outer catch lever which Chealt. Fabrications kindly sent free of charge( just £5 p@p). You are right they are old Marina door locks.

Details of the handle/lock are given here

I can't decide from your last posting whether Cheltenham Laminating (which I assume is where you got the part from) sent you the complete handle/lock or just the handle's 'flap' (which seems to be the thing that usually splits.) Either way, the description in the above file of how the external handle is secured to a door indicates you'll have to access the rear of the handle/lock to undo its fixing nuts.
