antony1969 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Doesn't seem that long ago the western world was supporting the Egyptian uprising and all the freedoms those events were going to bring . Now it seems the Egyptian hard liners may get there wish and have the country run under strict Islamic law . I wonder how much freedom women , gays , non believers etc will have under there new masters and if any western governments will be raising concern's of freedom ?
Guest pelmetman Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 The middle East has all the makings of being the next war zone *-)..................which will mean Israel will be a target, so that'll bring in the Americans 8-).................

CliveH Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Read a great story a while back - supposedly based on truth - and that is that all the Arab States have been told/warned that any Nuke that gets detonated in a western country as a result of terrorist activity will result in multiple nuclear strikes by the West against seven key targets in the Arab world. So we have a version of MAD protecting us once again - according to the book The story also quotes a number of government officials breathing a sigh of relief at 9 11 and 7 7 etc. because they say "good that means they have not got hold of the Russian "suitcase" nukes yet" A truly frightening scenario that made me think. What made it all the more un-nerving is that about a year after reading it - I attended a seminar on "catastrophe and the financial markets" and I expected it to be a rehash of the climate alarmism we were having rammed down our throats. But it was not - the speaker outlined the likely events in the aftermath of a "dirty bomb" (Nuclear/biological etc) in London and the short, medium and longer term likely scenarios on the Financial World given London's status in this area. Tho he said it was just as likely to be in another Town/City because of the security in London. What was thought provoking was that whilst the Financial Markets have plans in place and back up facilities, the powers that be in government have virtually NO plans or provisions for the population that would be affected by such an attack. Bits of the infrastructure would be replaced or "rescued" - but as for the people - it seems we would be very much on our own - in fact if their was any "contamination" of any sort - we would be confined to he area we were in at the time. 8-)

CliveH Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Better than kissing anyone else's!!!! (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) But it was a truly sobering analysis of what would happen. Even more shocking given the "reality" with which the plans are/have been put in place. The scenario seemed very much - "not if - but when" :-S
antony1969 Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 All this talk of possible nuclear threat in the Middle East makes me think people on here forget just who the Middle East Peace Envoy is . That man is Mr Tony Blair . It will not be easy for Mr President but if one man can prevent disaster he will , even if he has to give way on everything . So come on lets cut the guy a bit of slack and even if he fails it will make a great read in his next book " The Middle East Years " .
