Rallies in Spain

Bloody hell!

I fell off my cvhair when I saw what they charge.

Over Two-Thousand-Pounds PER motorhome with two occupants, for 16 days!

With all fuel, all tolls, and almost all food and booze etc, and all overnight stops before and after the actual tour, on top!

Over THREE THOUSAND pounds if you've got 4 occupants!

That's just basically for site fees plus electricity, plus cross channel ferry tickets, plus a guide, plus a couple of meals.

There must be a market for this from people with too much money!

Tell you what guys 'n gals, we've lived here for twn years, we speak the lingo, we tour all over the place many times a year here.

I'll do any guided/escorted Spanish motorhome tour you like, anywhere in Spain, for a minimum of say just four motorhomes, for HALF that price.

I'm perfectly serious.

Kathy and I would do this for any of you guys, tailor an escorted tour to suit whatever regions/sights you wanna see, for HALF of what those published lunatic charges are. You just organise your ferry tickets from the UK side.

Contact the newly formed "NOMAD" escorted/guided tours of Spain....care of BGD & Sparkle. :-D

I believe fair-weather was asking about rallies not escorted tours a totally different thing..The price is normally very similar to what you would pay on the site but you have the benefits of been part of a community of like minded people, out to enjoy themselves..They also guarantee to match or better any ferry price.

Hi

We have been on a number of the C&CC rallies in the last 3 winters since we started motorhoming. We usually do 2-3 each winter for a week or two at a time and generally find that they are very enjoyable with a nice mix of people and places to visit in the locality. They do vary however dependent upon both the site and the rally stewards, the more that both the stewards and also the site owners/ managers put in the better.

This year we will certainly go on the Castilo de Banos rally, where we have been before, and probably one other, possibly Turiscampo in Lagos. We would never go to Moncofa ever again or La Manga for anything less than a month. Most of the rally sites are in the ACSI book so it is easy to compare rally cost with site cost per night to see if the rally entertainment programme justifies the additional cost, if any. The ralliers are a mix of first timers and those who have been on many previous occasions and it is easy to make new friends if you want.

Hope this helps

Bob

Why not just do your own thing. You won't be lonely, the sites in spain a awash with likeminded brit's, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg either. Go for it it's great, whichever way you do it.

We’ve just booked next year’s trip to sunnier (we hope) climes through the C & C Club. Portsmouth to Santander out in February, joining the rallies at Turiscampo (see you there Bob?), Almafra & Vilanova Park for 10 days each, various overnight stops en route, between the rallies & then back through France to visit old friends and home on the Roscoff to Plymouth ferry in April. A total of 37 campsite nights booked all with electrics, plus insurance for the motorhome. Cost just under £1300 which we thought reasonable.

Doubtless it’s more than it would cost if wild camping was an option, but these days I’m lumbered with medical equipment that needs an electricity supply, so for now we’re happy to stick with camp sites all the way – and so far we’ve had fun on the few rallies we’ve tried.

The rallies are what you make them, join in or not, as you wish – there’s never any pressure. We enjoy them in short bursts, people are very friendly and we appreciate the hard work put in by the stewards to give everyone a good holiday.

We too are considering a winter rally and maybe some campsites but elderly parents health are preventing us from booking. If all well we will give one a try as it will be our first Spanish trip. Will wait till after Christmas to decide anyway.

Yes it is difficult to plan ahead but I looked online and there are vacancies at rallies and they are cheaper than reduced campsite prices with ACSI card. Will have to wait and see how things are after Xmas.

Hope all goes well with you.
