Overnight in Tours, France

A popular overnight stop (particularly with the heading north/south Spain folks) is at St -Maure-de-Touraine. It is 37km south of Tours just off the N10 (turn left at sign centre ville, aire de repos). Parking is hard standing, pleasant, park-like but near houses. There is water and toilet emptying but no waste water drop. Market Friday am and we found wi-fi in town centre near estate agents. Town is nice to walk round and we find worth a couple of days; some nice resturants.

This is a very nice private site and you only pay for what facilities you use, I think we paid about 8 euros incl electric and showers.

Aire du Bois Chaudron, lieu dit le Bois Chaudron, rte Nle 10 (D910), Saint Maure de Touraine 37800. GPS: 0.36.46.E 47.05.35.N tel: 0033 684 97 84 22 Email: alain.delcloque@orange.fr

We stayed there for one night on the way back from the UK in October and was pleasantly surprised. It was a recommendation from a neighbour here.

Is this an aire or a campsite? Is it open in January - this week even?

Thanks

Bob

I think he is open all year. It is in our Aires Book (French edition). It is very small, maybe 12 vans with electric and then room for more without. There was a couple of UK registered vans on when we were there.

Edit:

Just had a look in our book and yes he is open all year. Prices are 1 van/2 people 2.50 €, elec 2€, shower 2€, if you want to fill with water 2 €, empty the toilet 3 €, and the waste water 1€ but for all 3 it is 4.50€, we didn't bother with that so it was 8,50 € for one night. There are also washers and dryers and you can can get local produce and bread delivery in season. There is also free WiFi.
