crbtaylor
Can anyone suggest or recommend an overnight stop near Poitiers, for an overnight stay enroute to Portugal?
Mike88
There is an excellent Aire at Futurescope. If you arrive after 4pm and leave before 8am it's free although these timings might not be correct. But the Aire itself is worth a stay and there are good dumping facilities and free water. Guest JudgeMental
was going to say Chateau-larcher but closed until March, maybe worth looking it up for return as its really nice and quiet with electric on hard stand pitches in a green wooded area next to lake and playing fields.3€ a night lots of stops in the area though: http://www.airecampingcar.com/aire_camping_car_region.php/54-POITOU-CHARENTE
Derek Uzzell
Depends how near Poitiers you want to be. The Nieuil L'Espoir aire to the south-east of Poitiers has free overnight parking http://www.tourisme-vienne.com/camping/nieuil-l-espoir/82/aire-de-service-camping-car-nieuil-l-espoir http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/airepda.php?numid=704&Localit%E9=NIEUIL%20L'ESPOIR whereas (despite the "gratuit" in the first link below) I'm pretty sure there's still a charge for the private aire at Mirebeau to the north-west of Poitiers http://en.tourisme-vienne.com/camping/mirebeau/91/aire-de-service-camping-car-mirebeau http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/airepda.php?numid=7650&Localit%E9=MIREBEAU http://vikki.over-blog.com/article-30461735.html The campingcar-infos website shows an off-road parking place close to the campsite at CHASSENEUIL DU POITOU north of Poitiers and close to Futuroscope. The 'aire' Mike88 refers to is on the Futuroscope vehicle parking-area. It's on the campingcar-infos website under the name CHASSENEUIL DU POITOU Futuroscope. The following details are provided: Accès/adresse : Parking du Futuroscope 86360 CHASSENEUIL DU POITOU Latitude : (Nord) 46.66269° Décimaux ou 46° 39' 45'' Longitude : (Est) 0.3685° Décimaux ou 0° 22' 6'' Tarif : 2012 Forfait journée valable dès 8h et jusqu'à 8h le lendemain : 6 € Forfait soirée valable dès 17h et jusqu'à 8h le lendemain : 2 € Eau ou 1 H d'électricité : 4 € Réduction spéciale avec carte club senior
starvin marvin
If you want a "proper"site just north of Poitiers there's one near Jaunay Clan called Camping Le Futuriste at St Georges-les-Baillargeaux. we've used it a couple of times during winter dashes south and we both think its a good stop, with good views over Poitiers on a clear night. Bojitoes
We tried to stay at Futuroscope in January a couple of years ago but the aire was closed until mid february. We drove for 30 mins to the town of Vivonne where there is an aire for 3-4 vans with electric, water and a loo in the market square. We stopped in Blois a couple of nights ago, aire was ok but not as many facilities as Vivonne Bob
