Route to Spain

John Anne

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

We are thinking of heading for the Murcia region of Spain in the next couple of weeks therefore we are seeking recommendations, from experienced travellers, of a route from Calais. Please bear in mind that our MH is on the large size - 8.6m long tag axle.

We may consider going via Santander but the Bay of Biscay is a worry - or is it?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

John & Anne.

John , we went from Santander last year along the west of Spain following the coastline of Portugal and along the south coastline of Spain , brilliant time October to February .

Our motor is an Autotrail Miami at about 7.5 metres long , so bit shorter than yours and we had no problems at all . Great places to wild if you want or alternatively plenty of sites open on the way down .

We always take the chunnel......Eqhuihen plage aire.......Vendome aire....Bordeaux campsite......Biarritz aire.....Zaragoza campsite.....Oliva campsite.....Pilar de la Horadada campsite.........All the aires or sites we stopped at either had or were capable of taking large units ;-)..................we might only be a short camper but our trailer adds a fair bit 8-)

We caught the train 7.50 last Friday morning . First night aire at Blois, 2nd night Campsite outside Bordeaux, 3rd Night Campsite in Pamplona , 4th/5th night Campsite in AranJuez south of Madrid, tonight Campsite in Granada, tomorrow Motril, journeys end. No toll roads used except for 30 mins around Pamplona because of snow, otherwise roads are superb. Our motorhome 6.5m long and would envisage no problems with longer van via this route.

Have a good trip

Bob
