Hoover for motorhome

We use a Black & Decker DustBuster pivot 18 volt. Powerful little machine but as with all powerful battery powered models you pay for the performance with limited battery life. If you try and vacuume the whole motorhome it will run out but use a brush for the main areas and the vacuume cleaner for the nooks and crannies and its great. I have been doing a lot of DIY at home recently (new toilet in the garden for me and new kitchen for her) and have found it great for cleaning up the mess as I go before the wife gets distressed or the dog eats it.

If you pick up a lot of fine dust the filter needs regular cleaning. The battery powered Dyson gets round this problem but its very expensive and much more bulky.

Incidently what your looking for is a vacuume cleaner not a Hover!

I think this is the most recent previous forum thread on this subject:

My 7-years-old Black & Decker continues to provide satisfactory service. If I were to replace it I might opt for the Halfords 12V product that gets generally good reviews

or a B&D AV1205 that has a 5-metre power cable.

The Halfords and B&D cleaners are both available for around £20 and both should be adequate if the requirement is for an inexpensive, compact 12V dashboard-socket-powered hoover for a bit of light housework within a motorhome.

(Nothing wrong with using "hoover" as a synonym for a vacuum-cleaner, incidentally. People happily use "biro" when referring to a ball-point pen, and "fridge" is believed to have evolved from the "Frigidaire" make of refrigerators.)

I have one of these, having used a few battery operated hoovers, its much better IMO

Andy

I have had two of these in the past, good motor but the filer bag drove me crackers (lol) they are so mucky to empty and they do tear if you are rough with them!!

I have now got the handheld Dyson, expensive!! but the battery without being able to charge it (no hookup)

doesnt last long enough for me!! As somebody else has said get a hand brush and dustpan and only use the vacuum for seats and crevices.

Ive lost count of the handhelds we have had over the last 20 years. You pays your money and takes chance none of them matches up to the one you have at home! :-D

At Malvern we had a solar panel fitted and the fitters cleaned up using a Dewalt dc515.  It is hand held, wet or dry use and they told us it lasts ages compared to others they had tried.  It is very powerful and omes with attachment nozzles.  You have to buy the battery and charger extra as it is intended for 'trades people' who tend to buy things like this in component form.

Ours cost £107 but we feel it is well worth spending that bit more and getting the 'right' thing.

Sorry I can't for some reaso get the web site to link but Google will do it for you.

Just spotted this:

Might get one.

Dyson are ridiculously expensive, however we tried as many as we could (I didn't want to give the greedy James Dyson any of my hard earned money) but it was notably better than anything else we tried, especially as we got the "Animal" variant which comes with the head with the rotary brush as standard.

We have the same with the turbo head for dog hairs! that looks a good idea but I would think best used while the vehicle is moving, I can just imagine what my O.H would say if the cleaner flattened the battery >:-) actually I daren't even go there!!!!

We have a 12v cleaner, which I find useful for cleaning while away on holiday. Then always give a "proper" clean with my domestic cleaner when we get home I think the name is "Streetwise" and cost £10.95 Made in China.Used to have battery one , but as it was not used much, found the battery went flat5
