Mike B. Posted March 7, 2013 Share Posted March 7, 2013 Just to advise andone heading for the sun (or back) the tables appear to have turned between France & Spain with diesel prices. We are returning to UK through France at present and diesel is a lot cheaper here than in Spain. All the way up the Costas the price was around €1.41 per litre and €1.42 at the border and/or on Motorways. Expecting it to be more expensive in France, I filled up at the border in Spain at La Jonquere/Le Pethus, to find it cheaper in France! On the Motorways/Highways in France it is around the €1.53-€1.58 in some places yet at the supermarkets it is €1.37/38 vertually everywhere and even in some garages on N roads. One other point is that a very large number of Supermarkets now only take credit cards and are non attended so don't expect to pay with cash or at a kiosk. Same applies to all the toll booths on the motorways now I'm told although I have only used a few they are all automatic-have plenty of change with you as they don't like Caxton fx cards! Fuel on the A75 services was €1.60 and by card only, if you are heading over Millau-fill up in Clermont Fd! Mike Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Betera,(outside valencia) €1.36 per litre, Zarazaunt,near San Sebastian, €1.38 per litre and Poitiers also €1.38.We did see fuel at hugely varying prices, particularly Esso, and did notice that the fuel around Benidorm was quite expensive compared to the south and further north. We did not pay more than €1.40 throughout our 7 weeks away. We only went on one toll, by mistake, it was manned and they took cash. maybe this is because we went the western route. derek500 Posted March 8, 2013 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Travelled last week. Auchan - Boulogne St Martin - 138.9 (great overnight spot with free wifi from McDonalds in range from car park). Intermarche - Poitiers - 134.9 (without fail always the cheapest diesel we find on route in France). Non-manned garage on Pamplona-Zaragoza road - 135.9.
