plumbill
What is the best Make of Over Voltage Protector to use on Schaudt Elektrobloc . Thanks in anticipation of your help *-)
747
The Schaudt OV1 is the dedicated one. An alternative is by Sollatek. It was designed for Air Conditioning systems but has been used for EBL's. If I can find the link, I will post it. Both units protect against under voltage as well as over and also spikes.
flicka
Dave Newell (a regular on this forum & MMM tech guru) used to advertise them. I think he is at the Newark Show this weekend. So worth a phone call. http://www.davenewell.co.uk/
lennyhb
Link to Sollatek now £63 use to be about £42, the Schaudt is about £70 from Dave and just plugs in no wiring. I have a much cheaper solution I don't use hook ups works for me :D
JohnP
I have a Schaudt OV1 bought from Dave Newell, which was never fitted. Open to offers. Complete with leads and plugs.
andy mccord
Can I just ask, is the OV1 recommended for all models of EBL or just earlier examples, & what are peoples opinions of problems occuring on hookup in general with a schaudt unit fitted Regards Andy
lennyhb
There is a PDF from Schaudt written in 2006. I know there are now Elektrobloc's with build in OVP Hymer have been fitting them since about 2011, if you email Schaudt with the model number should get a reply back same day their CS is very good. Advisable to use them on EHU when power to the site/farm is by overhead cable - more likelihood of voltage variation than underground cables also susceptible to lightning strikes. I've never had a problem but I've only used a EHU (apart from at home) for about 4 nights in 5 years. :DNL20060804b - OVP 01_EN.pdf
