Guest pelmetman
leslie symonds - 2013-03-24 7:35 PM Anything on the van would help Is it a PVC or Coachbuilt, do you know who the converter is?..........Autotrail used to build on them more than most......the Merc 208D has a good reputation although somewhat agricultural by today's standards, but on the whole if well maintained a reliable go anywhere motor ;-)
Guest pelmetman
leslie symonds - 2013-03-24 7:43 PM Also we have damp all down the back of the van and don't know what to do or how to start. Aaaah........coachbuilt then?........if your sure its comeing in via the skylight then sealing that is your first job, you might get away with just removing the old sealant from around the edge of the skylight, and running a new bead of something like Sickaflex around it.........I'd try that first ;-) If its still leaking then it'll be a skylight out job, which means at that age worth replacing with a new one as they do get brittle with age.... Hopefully if that cures your leak, and hasn't been leaking untreated for ages, then you should get away just allowing it to dry out ;-).........Best of luck :D

Dave225
I would suggest getting a habitation check done by possibly a mobile service engineer. At least that will identify any problems you are likely to face whether major or minor and the damp check will spot any bad spots for you. At least then you know where you need to start. A mobile engineer will be a lot more informative about what you can, or cannot do yourself. OK, he would like some work but will be reasonable.
