Using your Tv

Recommended Posts

I bought a Tv to use in our Motorhome made sure that the tv runs off 12 volts but unless we plug the tv into the cigarette lighter we can,t put the plug in the socket as they are a funny shape. The cigarette lighter is miles away from the lounge area so into sure what to do. We also have a saucer shaped dish on the roof which I am told won,t work anymore... So any ideas how to plug in a tv and what is best to use for an aerial. Absolute beginner as you can see.

Thanks for the help

You don't say what van you have, this does help[ others to help you.Surely you have another 12v switch in the van?As sometimes the cigar lighter one only works when ignition on.

You can make up a 12v extension lead, easy to do.Make sure you get the right fitting for your plug, as we have found that there can be more than one size

Trot off to a caravan accessory store and you will find that there are at least 3 different types of 12 volt plugs, buy the correct one and fit, sometimes you will find ready made adapters.Your omni directional aerial may work, dependent on signal strength, just not very well.

Our Status (saucer) Ariel works fine if within range of a decent signal, you just need to ensure the tv you bought has freeview ;-)
