MartinP
We are members of both clubs. CC some good city town/ village centre-ish sites eg York Rowntree Park, Edinburgh , Broadway, Henley , Uttoxeter, Thirsk etc - as we don't have the luxury of spending winters abroad we like to be in walking distance of centre and pubs etc. also 5 van sites when we travel around. Yes it grieves me to pay top whack - I'd rather stay on a stellplatz or aire- but got to be pragmatic CCC - mainly 5 van sites if at all and weekend rallies - maybe 20-30 per annum at £6-8 pernight- usually with some entertainment/social effort - in the winter with a hall etc. Most weekends outside dead of winter there are 60+ rallies to choose from and the THS in summer are often available all week and well placed for the sea, hills, pub POIs etc. And like aires- you rarely have to book!! This for the cost per annum of less than 2 nights at a commercial site. Incidentally - out of high season (which we would be avoiding anyway) we get CCC main sites for 2 "over 55 age concessions" for around £10-12 with EHU. on a par with many aires etc but with better facilities. Can get good value for money if you work at it........... :-D :-D
Wills Wagon
As motorhomers we tend to follow the better weather and the BIG, BIG problem with CC sites is finding club sites that are available on Friday and Saturday nights. We want to get away for 10 days, no problem in mid-week but trying for this weekend in the north east there is no availabilty unless the sites are very remote or have no toilets. Many sites are fully booked for nearly all Friday/Saturday nights and have been for months. So will have to think carefully about future renewal.
