Pampam
Would anyone know whether a "normal" household tv is okay to use in a motorhome , or does all the moving about jiggle the wires about ? , or am I better off buying an avtex , I nearly always use sites with ehu thanks
Mike B.
'Normal' TV will work perfectly if you are on EHU-they use more power than the 12 volt ones but this would not bother you on mains. If you are touring then it's better to have a 12 volt one but Avtex are quite expensive and you can buy cheaper models Mike
Guest machra
We have used both a household type and an Avtex in the time we have been camping and both have been fine. You say you nearly always stay on sites with ehu so any set will suffice as you have mains electricity. If you want to watch TV when you are not on ehu you will need either a set with 12v input, or buy an inverter. At the moment we are using a 16 inch Techwood tv, with built in DVD player, bought from Morrisons supermarket, for about £90 (Had it a while so I wouldnt know how much a similar set is now). While this is aimed at the household market it is a set that has 12v input. All you need to buy extra is a12v cable which has the correct socket for the TV at one end and a cigar lighter type socket at the other. We bought one off ebay. You can then use it in the van whether you are on an ehu or not. We went down this route as we couldnt justify the price difference between the Techwood and an Avtex.
