Karmann Gipsy
Hi Guys My parents have a Renault Trafic Holdsworth Rainbow (1993) with an Electrolux RM 123E three way fridge. The mains thermostat knob, which is situated inside the fridge at the back has disintegrated and is useless. Dometic tell me it is obsolete and I have had no luck so far in getting one from another supplier. I cant adapt a different knob because of the length of the operating shaft to reach the switch at the back. Does anyone know where I might get one from? Many thanks John
Don Madge
John, Try Charles & Son http://charlesandson.co.uk/aboutus.htm they have a good stock of bits for the old Autohomes range so you might be lucky. Don
Derek Uzzell
Your best bet is probably a caravan breaker. For list see http://www.caravanningnow.co.uk/caravanning/breakers.htm
Karmann Gipsy
Thanks Guys Will try the sources you suggest, but given how fragile an item this thing is, I would expect second hand ones to have self-destructed too ! :-(
Rowan Lee
Do you have a Karmann Gypsy by any chance? I picked up on this thread because my sister has one, and needs a new fridge!
Karmann Gipsy
Rowan Yes I do ! Thats it in the picture next to my postings! The fridge in mine is pretty standard Elecrtrolux so you shouldnt have a problem finding one.

Karmann Gipsy
The original type 2-quite rare I believe. Mine is far more sophisticated, but definitely lacking in character by comparison ! :-D
Karmann Gipsy
Just to pass on a report of good service, I finally got the fridge part I was seeking from Autovan Services in Poole, Dorset. Took a week to get and the service was excellent. It would be worth trying them for ANY obsolete part I suspect!! :-D
