theoldnick
has any of our intrepid travellers visited this train at Villefranche de conflent in France Reading the current MMM and the horror story of driving on steep mountain roads and as the train is in the mountains near Andorra I have my concerns driving a large Kontiki. Any other info, campsites, length of train journey, timetable, where to get off and return etc would be appreciated. RonB
flicka
We took a ride a few years ago SNCF from perpingnon to Villefranche & then Le Petite Train Jaune to Mont Louis. Mont Louis is small but pleasant spentd a few hours & lunch. Then did the return downhill run so you get to see the route from both angle. Depending on time of year (when we were there late season) the Train did not travel the full route to Latour de Carol. Well worth the trip, IMO. onecal
Hi,No need to worry about driving your Kontiki in the mountains.Good road to base and a large car park,so you can take a break form driving for the day and let the little yellow train do the work in the mountains. Flicka has given you all the info on tickets etc'.well worth the trip on the train for the fabulous views alone.Regards,Brendan
armstrongpiper
There's a lovely peaceful Aire, through the car park, at Thues entre Vals up the valley from Villefranche. It is 50 to 100 Metres from a Little Yellow Train request stop. Very spectacular walks in the Caranca gorges start from the car park. armstrongpiper
There's a bar at the entrance to the car park, last time we were there it cost 4 Euros for 24 hrs parking. Water and loo emptying facilities icluded. I don't remember any other kind of bar ! Neil B
