Pampam - 2013-05-23 4:16 PMAlso can I go on any DA rally even though I'm from South Yorkshire? Am in every club but just usually use cc sites and read all their magazines.pp
As a Camping and Caravanning Club Member  you can attend ANY , D. A. [District Association] rally or temporary holiday site  [sites for holidays] listed in the OUT AND ABOUT  section of your  monthly Magazine, without booking  [unless otherwise stated ] you can stay for only one night or for as long as you like during the rally , you pay when you leave so you don't need to make a decision  as to your stay length when you arrive.Full details of the  rallies are listed as previously stated, including full directions  to the venue, cost and  details about the area, how SIMPLE can that be, have fun.

Tracker - 2013-05-23 7:27 PMNot going away this weekend - digging a wildlife pond in the garden - thought I might make it big enough to suit one or two members on here - along with the other frogs, toads, newts and bugs - any nominations please!!

Very public spirited of you Tracker...making a 'home' for 'pond life'.....  :-D

We'd best watch out for Rich doing a spot of fishing then ;-) ....................I can recommend CB as a good worm dangling spot :D...........Happy soggy camping to all you brave souls who are prepared to suffer a bank holiday CC site this weekend 8-)........

The family ( Mother and Father-in-Law, Brother-in-Law and his little Brats ) are going to the Caravan Club site at Coniston, Park Coppice this afternoon and staying until next Friday.

They were quite surprised when we said that we " Would Not " be joining them...............LOL.

Just imagine.......a family site like that on a Bank Holiday weekend and Half Term all rolled into one.

Oh what fun it will be with all the " Little Poppets" running wild on the site............LOL.

Morning all,

I have been told that many sites in the peak district want minimum booking of three nights, presumably in advance so if you do arunner due tobad weather they,ve got your money anyway. Our first overnight stop will be Pont d, la Arche just south of Rouen or maybe further.

Have a good trip - super little Aire that one, level(ish), hard standing, river views, cute little town on the doorstep and even a cut price filling station on the approach from Rouen!

Enjoy!

If you are still there next week I will give you a wave. Was only thinking about going as far as the Dordogne, but looking at the French weather it might be a case of press on to the south coast.

Time will tell

So glad you enjoyed the experience - I know what you mean about bingo but on these occasions it is often more about chatting, meeting people and having a laugh or three than pure bingo so may I mention not to rule it out for when you are in the mood!

It's always good to welcome another convert to the less formal side of camping!

Would have definitely had a go at the bingo and a bit of socialising but only had three hours kip the night before and was absolutely knackered ,looking at different ones in the coming year we enjoyed it that much.pp.

What a great weekend.

Spent Saturday night in a social club car park where we were at a private live music event.

The club owner wouldn't accept any money and even offered a free hook up.

Sunday night at a nice C L in St Albans. £12 with electric. No toilets or showers, but that wasn't an issue.

At the risk of raising the ire of everyone here I submit that any country that is so unimaginative as to call every public holiday "Bank Holiday" deserves the rubbish weather that usually spoils it.

Britain should be renamed Tierre del Lluvia.

No ire, this post set me thinking and do you know what, it's true. The weather in the UK is often unseasonably good or poor. It does rain a lot.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I imagine no one here had realised until your revelatory post.

We are also sorry that we lack imagination.

Some of us though are a little quicker than others and buy motorised homes to go to France.

It rains a lot there too, and they don't speak English.

Have you any advice?

We have just returned from a cracking long weekend at Malvern with the MCC, I think there were 468 motorhomes on site. Every area of the country was represented and I noticed some ATOC members there as well. I can't understand why a motorhomer should have a problem finding a site on any weekend when most clubs have something going on and for very little money as well. There was live entertainment, a bus trip organised and shuttle buses to the local town for shopping. What better to socialise have a few jars and dance the night away.

Yes wasn't it nice of the kind lady in an earlier post informing me of DA sites, after every northern cc site was full and a dozen independent sites were also full and two others wouldn't let me stay for just one night at "peak" holiday time so hats off to the earlier helpfull posts thanks again pampam

Aren't C&CC DA meets / rally's great, we had a 'two centre' one....a couple of nights at Settle with the Ribblesdale BCC crazy lot and their beer tent, followed by two nights at Torver with the Lakes DA.

We managed to do Brown Pike, Buck Pike, Dow Crag, and The Old Man....in sunshine!! Then necked a few pints after our return down in the Yewdale.

We're visiting our daughter and family in Brize this coming w/e, and looking at THS's in the area for before and after. Maybe Pershore or Evesham, or both.

regards

Allen
