Symbol Owner
Yes, John, and the Guardian editor, Alan Rushbridger, only 'hit the headlines' recently, because as a (fairly decent) amateur pianist he took a year, (@20 mins per day , wherever he was ( including a hotel in Libya when he succeded in 'bailing out' one of his journalists) to learn, and, eventually, play in public, the fiendishly difficult Chopin Ballade No.1 in G minor (played here for your delectation & delight by the great Vladimir Horowitz -- sorry about the ad. and the quality of the graphics ) :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18620H_z8Uk. and later, wrote a book about it. Someone else with a 'hinterland' as the great Dennis Healey once put it. Here is Rushbridger:- http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/video/2013/jan/11/alan-rusbridger-chopin-video Inspiring, or what? Cheers! Colin.

Dave, it is surely because you agree with them that you don't notice who they are or where they come from -- even Channel 4 news ( before your bedtime!) is full of journalists who are not 'Guardianistas' or even from the 'Indy' -- Some from 'Figaro' & 'Pravda'( also 'Washington Post' & 'New York Times') though! It's called 'balanced reporting' Dave -- even if you don't like views other than your own! There have been rather too many on here like that recently -- see: 'Daniel the Editor' on another thread! Cheers, Colin.
