Safe overnight parking near Boulogne sur Mer

Hi,

We will be arriving in France from Eurotunnel mid-evening. We don't want to drive too far in the dark and wonder if anyone knows of a safe place to park overnight?

We usually stay in the first motorway services 'Aire des deux caps' (between Calais & Boulogne) but have been put off a bit by recent reports of these sort of parking areas being unsafe.

would be very grateful for any info.

Pat

Quite a few Aires on the coast road from Calais to Boulogne & plenty of places to wild camp all safe, we often stay at Cap Le Griz Nez, bread van comes round in the morning. There is a big municipal Aire on the hill down into Boulogne, drove past the one at Wissant yesterday looks OK.

I was  told last week that the aire at wissant is being frequented by illegal immigrants mozing around. We usually stop at the Auchan at St Martin Bologne handy for diesel and there's a service point  .There's a Mc Ds so handy for wi-fi you can tuck in a corner near the staff parking compound  for an undisturbed night . We have used it lots of times its about 20 miles from euro tunnel.

Official Aire just outside Boulogne sur Mer:

There own website is a bit confusing though where it says parking is for 48hrs max but gives a price for stays longer than 48 hours.

The aire just outside Boulogne is very nice, level & terraced. You can park as long as you want and it is a really nice view over the sea/Boulogne. Doesn't take long from Calais and never seen any undesireables etc there (except us!)

Walking distance to center/fish market (Cheap fresh mussels) if you are having a couple of days there and Le Clerc is good for fuel then up onto the motorway south

Our preferred overnight stop, too.

Diesel a bit cheaper than in Calais and Boulogne, free wifi from McD, service point and fresh croissants for breakfast!!
