Borderer
Just had a habitation service at a northern dealership and had a new leisure battery fitted. The old factory fitted one..a Numax 110 had a vent pipe to to outside of the motorhome through the floor. The new battery an Advanced Battery Systems LP 110 has no vent pipe. Should it be vented? Thanks
docted
Sounds like a sealed for life battery if there is no vent on the battery case and you dont therefore need to vent it.

It is a VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery and as such should be vented to a safe location. If it is overcharged or suffers an internal fault it can expel hydrogen gas and so MUST be vented. The battery spec is given here... Link. Keith.
Fred Duck
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I've just purchased an Numax/Alphaline CXV27 leisure battery. Like the ABS battery referred to in the original posting it is a sealed Calcium lead acid type and has no vent. If you research all this type of leisure battery you find that none are vented. I cannot believe that the various manufacturers could all fail to fit a vent when one should be fitted - or could they?? :-( FD
sshortcircuit
It suggests to me that calcium cells do not produce hydrogen gas, or any gas, so why fit a vent?
