Glendale Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Hi I have a Compass Drifter 410 2.5 Diesel. My problem is when I use the left hand flasher it blows the fuses, I have put in a new flasher unit but it still does it. I have no problem with the right. Can anybody help, I'm pulling my hair out.
docted Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 You probably have a short circuit on the left side flashers where something has cut through the wire insulation. If you are not technically minded an auto-electrician will be able to fix this quite quickly. If you have a meter and know how to use it you should be able to isloate the fault area and bypass it.
747 Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 It sounds like you have a dead short to earth on the live side. Check each unit with a multimeter for continuity, it could be a number of reasons causing it.
Brian Kirby Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 But, before you get too far, just check the condition of the indicators themselves (including the side repeater), as one or more may be full of water!
Cattwg Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Hi Glendale, I suggest you check the wiring between the bodywork and the door, this is easily done by pulling back the rubber boot. I had a strange fault on my indicators a while back and it turned out to be that the wiring had chaffed where it entered the door. My post of 24 April explaining it is at http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Fiat-X250-Wiring-Fault-and-Cure-/31069/ Cattwg :-D
Glendale Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I would like to say thank you to all who have given me advice, I am now going to check on all, will keep informed of my progress. :-) ;-)
