kelly58
Last Monday 24th we were heading back to Calais on the A28 / E402 from Rouen and being passed by a lot of expensive performance cars which I assume had been to the 24hr Le-mans weekend.Driving along towards an overbridge on a downhill section I noticed sat on the embankment two police officers in Camo Gear one with binoculars and the other one with a speed trap radar device their car was well hidden clocking the speeding cars ( very sneaky ) , so I can only assume that some of these petrol heads will be getting a ticket in the post in the next few weeks. colin
couple of weeks back they where clocking cars heading south, hidden car and not obvious officers. We overtook the Jaguar race team trucks heading down.
BGD
I heard that there's a little-known but entirely effective way to avoid speeding fines/penalty points within the UK and abroad................... Just don't break the speed limit. Try it; it really does work.
nowtelse2do
The French police have caught someone from England in an Audi R8 doing over 160mph in Normandie. They didn't know the actual top speed because the radar camera only records up to 160mph. Think he should get a good lawyer and plead not guilty because of this defect :D :D Dave
Dave225
Evidently the car has been confiscated, which seemed to not bother the driver as it was a Company car, probably his Company, his licence has been revoked and he will be fined €1300. According to similar articles the French are getting fed up with Brits speeding. They claim??? 6 out of 10 speeders are Brits, so I suggest the rest of us need to lie low and be inconspicous, as they are targeting us. Evidently they have acquired a bunch of unmarked cars to patrol the autoroutes near the Channel ports. Of course it could all be a devious plot by Hollande to blame us for all his stupid mistakes. Whilst we where in france this month not once where we overtaken by a UK reg car that was speeding, on the otherhand we where overtaken by numerous french reg cars that where speeding. In general I would say the standard of driving in france is much lower that the UK, this is born out by the death rates on french roads which is over 50% higher per head of population than the UK. I cannot argue with your logic but this being France logic does not apply. When something troubles France invariably they look to the UK as a culprit or to get recompense. Of course this inturn affects their tourist income but again this is France.
Retread24800
Funny that, I was illegally watching BBC TV the other day and the South West local news was Reporting that Thousands of £'s of unpaid motoring fines were owed by foreigners................... It's all the fault of the EU obviously. As for French Driving Standards, you fail to appreciate that in France it is possible to see round corners and also to the superb reaction times enhanced by the 'Digestive' after the meal it is quite safe to tailgate :-)
Andrew MMM
A couple of years back I was driving in southern France with friends when a little Mercedes A class (car, not MH!), shot past us at well over 80mph. No big deal I hear you say... But the driver had his left leg stretched full length out of the window!! It was almost dangerous and impressive in equal measure
colin
Retread24800 - 2013-06-28 1:45 PM Funny that, I was illegally watching BBC TV the other day Only just sunk in this part of your post, how was it 'illegal'? I'll admit to not knowing the law on using proxy servers, but as far as using a dish, anyone anywhere is perfectly entitled to watch FTA broadcasts, even pay tv should be able to be purchased anywhere by anyone in the EU, although Sky have strongly resisted this it's a legal entitlement under EU law.
